Data Science as a Team Sport

The sexiness of data science.  So is it a team sport?  Yes, just like all decision science requires multiple players including scientists, data experts, decision process experts and even regulation analysts.  Whether any of these participants should be called 'scientists' is still an open question. Some good thoughts and examples.  And typical of a number of hyped concepts:

That’s more than data science. That’s organizational politics or even social work. Most people in other jobs just make the best of it. But at current, “sexy” prices, dysfunction is expensive. ... "
