Infographics, Socially
I have written before that infographics are a poor way to provide data to people. It can often be used to twist information to your purposes, using slick graphics and integrating that with your data. It does not typically allow you to further explore the data. I can scan an infographic quickly, but am always suspicious about the numbers that are shown. Not to say that they have no purpose. They are a way of telling your story quickly and visually. In the past you had to hire expensive graphics artists to do this. But the site Visual.ly offers the ability to combine prefab story components with your data and create a quick infographic. Worth looking at if you need a cheap and quick application. But it still does not mean I am convinced it is a good idea. Caution please, especially to the consumers of Infographics. A review here.
