Mapping Your Knowledge Assets

In the HBR.  An idea we attempted to do in more detail, with partial success.  I like the idea of using a simpler template, rather than a full blown concept model.   Then building detail downward, as needed, using the filter of 'mission critical' and their definitions are useful.   I would then like these same structures mapped to related data assets, and estimating their value.

Even if you tried to collect and inventory all the knowledge floating around your company—the classic knowledge-management approach—you wouldn’t get anything useful from the exercise (and you’d suffer badly from cognitive overload). We would bet heavily that if your company has a knowledge-management system, it doesn’t adequately parse out your mission-critical knowledge. ... "
