I was recently asked to look at a number of online sites for introductory but practical resources on statistical methods. This made me look back at some of the ways we used Wikis to in the enterprise to integrate this kind of knowledge with corporate data and examples.
It also made me explore online examples. Notable is the psychology statistics Wiki implemented in Wikia. This includes more than 34,000 pages, still updated frequently. Reasonably simply written. I examined equivalent pages in the Wikipedia for topics like ANOVA and Multiple Regression, and found them generally better for explanation in the Wikia.
There are many similar resources online. It is interesting to compare the relative value of a more focused wiki resource and a general Wiki encyclopedia.
Wikis, beyond the Wikipedia, have seen less exposure lately. Does anyone know of studies that compare alternate tailored technical resources?
