Had not heard it stated that way.   But agree,  automation is less threat than we think.  As is mentioned, we will be building working relationships with our machines.

The threat that automation poses to humans has been greatly exaggerated, says Erik Brynjolfsson, director of the Stanford Digital Economy Lab and a senior fellow at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.

In an interview, Brynjolfsson examines humans' future working relationship with machines and how advanced technologies, especially machine learning, change economies as well as workers' jobs and lives.
