Interim Big Data Wiring of Smart Cities with Sensors

Big Data and the IOT make smart Cities.  by Bernard Marr.    I add:  Not everything is plugged into an IOT today, and the complete wiring of cities may take some time.  But cameras and other sensors can act as a means to gather information from 'things' yet unconnected.   For example cameras in retail can observe shelves, perform image analysis, and count inventory.  All before individual items are tagged.   An interim, sensor-based means to gather data, and have that information fed into the wider network.  At least a means to understanding via analytics how the broader IOT will ultimately perform.
