In the early days of Wolfram Alpha we looked at it for potential manipulation of internal data. It now has been accessible via Siri for a while, but I admit I have not until now encountered it in use. You can force its use by saying Wolfram instead of Siri. So you can say things like "Wolfram, plot Y Equals X Squared plus 4X"
It is automatically used if you create or imply a mathematical relationship, and some accessible data. I am assuming via some template. Makes sense, and the answers I got were useful. For example generating a random number. We did not go further in using Alpha for the enterprise, in part because we could not get it to use our data for manipulation. Akin to Watson analytics? Automating analysis.
It would be further interesting to use multiple AI/Cognitive/Assistant modules to work together to provide better value. Here Alpha is being used to generate numeric results. A kind of micro service that can be of value. Glad I was re-introduced to this, however accidentally. Any other thoughts?
More on use of Wolfram/Siri. And additionally.
