How Will Big Data Grow Up?

In the HBR.  Not unlike other heavily hyped technologies.  Have ridden several.  It's also finding itself attached to a new kind of user: An Internet of Things. The numbers are larger, the variety is growing, the potential velocity is astounding.  The article makes a good case for how we can make all this grow up in a maximally useful and efficient way.  Very well put.  But to make this all work together, we need to grow up with it. How will we make that happen?
