Half of Web Traffic is non-Human

In CWorld: I recall a statement like this before, and have also seen evidence of this when examining peaks in web analytics.   The volume still amazes me.   It must be very easy to do, and have real incentive. You do need to be careful about using web stats.

"That's now changed to the point where they actually interact with the sites they visit and mimic human traffic exactly." ... Bots are commonly used to generate "clicks" and false ad revenue, but in some cases, they make purchases online with the goal of influencing prices, Cremin said. ...
