Writing in the 21st Century

Nathan Heller writes in the New Yorker: " ... In a prologue to “The Sense of Style,” subtitled “A Thinking Person’s Guide to Writing in the 21st Century,” the brain scientist Steven Pinker explains that he’s been reading style manuals of late, and that they bum him out. ... " .  And Heller goes on to claim inconsistencies.  Its easy to pick things like that.  It should be our flexible language, not the property of the pundits.   Still a good read.
