Nicely done interview regarding evolutionary and genetic methods in O'Reilly. This was an area we explored in the enterprise, but to my knowledge never used practically. We did use neural networks to replace some statistical analysis techniques. It was suggested that it could provide more un-ordinary and creative solutions to common problems.
