Watson is Changing Computing, Why this Time?

Good Fast Company article which covers what IBM hopes that Watson will do.  I do hope so.   But I did see many articles like this one during the last AI explosion in the 90s.  We did some very clever things with the technology then, and many advances are being used today, but the reason AI was not both deeply and broadly applied, was because not enough attention was paid to how the solutions linked to real business processes.  These already had real data and linked to key systems already in place. AI solutions were stand alone and had to deal with poorly aligned data and unconvinced management.   Lets learn from those previous experience and make it work this time. Given the spending involved, this is a very big bet for IBM.
