Multiple retailers, including Target and Wal-Mart, to take on the challenge of Google Wallet. The consortium is setting up their own mobile payment system to challenge Wallet. Is this a signal that the smartphone wallet will soon become common? Creating new paths for promotion and integration?

I suspect that it will be accepted faster than purchasing on the internet was. I purchase my Starbucks coffee with my phone and would be ready to leave the wallet at home. I just wonder how many apps a we will go through until we find three that will be accepted. I am picking three so I believe there will have to be a limit to how many can be processed .I do not see how each major retailer could have their own app.
