Wikipedia and Academics

In Nature:   Wikipedia is one of the most  visited sites on the web, has replaced many past sources of general accessible knowledge, but still has distrust from academia.  For some good reasons.  Are academics also fighting for their jobs?  Or at least part of their jobs.   Some work is addressing this. Would like to attend.  But no.  " ... Wikipedians reach out to academics .... London conference discusses efforts by the online encyclopaedia to enlist the help of scientists. ... "
