CSIG (Cognitive Systems Institute Group) Talk - Aug 2, 2018 - 10:30-11am US Eastern
Title: Empowering
Teaching and Learning Using Al
Speaker: Lewis
Johnson, Alelo
Abstract: As
artificial intelligence (Al) becomes a practical, mainstream technology, it
raises questions about how Al will transform teaching and
learning. Will it replace teachers with algorithms? This webinar will show how
Al can be used to create intelligent teachers' assistants that
provide learners with immersive practice, formative assessment, and
personalized instruction, and at the same time provide teachers
with analytics for tracking and measuring student progress. It thus enables
both learning and teaching to become more efficient and
effective. Al also makes possible a data-driven approach to instructional
design, in which data collected from learners is used to rapidly
retrain and adapt the behavior of the learning system. These points will be
illustrated in the context of an immersive learning environment
for spoken English skills.
