Stock IOT

 Research

SES-imagotag Stock is a Pure Play on Retail IoT  in Nanalyze

One of the cool things about an investment research firm like Nanalyze is our longevity. We’ve been around for nearly 20 years now, and so we benefit from being able to draw on more than 2,200 research pieces. In effect, we have a unique dataset across a dozen emerging technology sectors. In that span of time, we’ve seen startups become multi-billion-dollar unicorns, eventually listing as a public company. We’ve watched companies pivot so many times that it makes you dizzy. And we’ve seen others evolve with interesting business models and technologies to match that they eventually create enough traction to merit a second look. Such is the case for a French company called SES-imagotag (SESL.PA), which has emerged to become the global leader in smart and connected digital labels and IoT solutions for physical retail locations.

About SES-imagotag Stock

We first covered this 30-year-old company way, way back in 2014 in which we referred to SES-imagotag as an e-ink pure play for retail stores. E-ink, more commonly referred to as e-paper, is the display technology for e-readers and also electronic shelf labels (ESLs), among other applications. E Ink (8069.TWO) is also the brand name of a Taiwanese company that is actually headquartered in the Boston area, as it was originally founded by some big brains from MIT. E Ink not only provides the ESL technology behind SES-imagotag’s retail IoT platform, it is also one of three principal shareholders in the company.   .... '   (much more)

Robot Arms to Stock Shelves

Considerable Labor Savings in retail.

Robot Arms Replacing Shelf Stockers in Japan's Stores

Bloomberg

Vlad Savov, Mia Glass, August 9, 2022

FamilyMart Co. will install a fleet of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven robots from Telexistence Inc. at 300 of its convenience stores in Japan. The robots, called TX SCARA (Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm), operate autonomously 98% of the time and will be used to restock shelves. They can be operated remotely if assistance is needed in accessing an item or there is an issue with the AI technology. Telexistence said each robot arm can replace one to three hours of human work daily per store. Said FamilyMart's Tomohiro Kano, "The newly created time can be reallocated to customer service and shop floor enhancement." The robot arms are equipped with Nvidia's Jetson AI platform and Microsoft's Azure cloud infrastructure, which enable them to process information, record sales data, and use the data to optimize restocking tasks.

Electrified Urban Transport

Recall we experimented with Segways in our innovation center,  and observed them being used in locations like the grocery store 'Jungle Jims'.      Here more about typical  human transportation. But do consider that we now expect to be able to carry things with us as well.

SEGWAYS, SCOOTERS, AND SKATEBOARDS: THE NEW ELECTRIFIED URBAN TRANSPORTATION  from Boundmotor.com

March 31, 2021

When Carl Benz applied for a patent for his “vehicle powered by a gas engine” in January 1886, he ignited what would later become a revolution in transportation. Over the centuries, improvements would be made to Benz’s idea, which ultimately led to making privately owned cars and large-scale projects like buses and subway systems central to urban mobility. Popular as they are, the traditional modes of public transportation like privately owned cars, public buses, and subways have their challenges. They are expensive to establish and maintain, result in gridlocks, pollution, and a shortage of parking in most major cities. Within the context of the challenges related to traditional forms of mass transportation, the Segway’s introduction in 2001 started a trend of replacing large-scale public infrastructure with small, one-person electric vehicles. McKinsey & Company, the management consultancy firm, calls this type of transportation micromobility. This article looks at the evolution of one-person electric modes of transport and how they have impacted urban transportation. We start by focusing on the urban transport challenges that have made one-person electric vehicles a growing urban transit option. We then look into the history of these forms of transport and some safety tips for people using them.

CHALLENGES OF TRADITIONAL PUBLIC AND PRIVATE URBAN TRANSPORTATION

The challenges associated with extensive public transportation projects are well documented. An article published by Australia’s University of Melbourne puts these challenges into perspective. It says, “Chronic losses of life on roadways, dangerous deterioration in air quality, and worldwide accumulation of atmospheric carbon can no longer resist the challenges of an increased population and its urbanization.” These challenges are partly responsible for the increasing trend where people prefer to use one-person electric vehicles.  ... In the face of increased consumer demand, maintaining adequate stock levels has proven to be a major ongoing challenge for retailers, particularly those in grocery. Moving inventory and goods from the stockroom out to the store shelves is a laborious and time-consuming process that puts additional strain on workers and can impact sales if not carried out in a timely manner. So how can retailers better manage this process in today's complex environment?

Download this new guide, "How Robots Solve Retail’s Restocking Challenge" today to learn how a new type of robotic application - autonomous inventory delivery - can help improve operational efficiency and increase productivity while easing the burden on employees.  ... "

Tokyo startup Telexistence has recently unveiled a new robot called the Model-T, an advanced teleoperated humanoid that can use tools and grasp a wide range of objects. Japanese convenience store chain FamilyMart plans to test the Model-T to restock shelves in up to 20 stores by 2022. In the trial, a human “pilot” will operate the robot remotely, handling items like beverage bottles, rice balls, sandwiches, and bento boxes. ... "
