Toward Cognitive Business Process Modeling

An excellent talk today in the Service Sciences Innovation series. This about a favorite topic:  How to manage business process in the modern enterprise.  Business Process Models (BPM) have been the way to represent and address how work gets done in the big enterprise.   I have covered this in my blog for years, see the tag below.

Cognitive BPM seeks to augment this by adding cognitive learning and other Watson processes.  Includes the integration of analytics methods.  And the ability to interact with unstructured data sources.  Regulatory compliance was also mentioned as a goal.  An ambitious view that seeks to improve many of the capabilities we sought in this space.   Since companies have spent much to develop BPM models, I asked if there were plans to consider how companies could build on current investments, and they are researching that approach.  Slides below:
