Beware of Assumptions

Bob Herbold tells a good story about the danger of  assumptions for leaders.

Beware of Assumptions – Regularly isolate key assumptions that are being used, constantly probe the basis for those assumptions, and experiment appropriately.

Mistaken Assumptions for Blockchains?

... Arvind Narayanan, a computer science professor at Princeton, argued in a widely-shared twitter thread last week that in 2018 “the blockchain/decentralization story fell apart” due to “mistaken assumptions.”:

Utimately one of the most important issues  of using AI.  Making it work in operational context.  And note too the discovery of wrong assumptions, a kind of confirmation bias, that is highlighted.   All models have assumptions, even the most sophisticated.  Rooting them out early in machine learning is too often not emphasized.
