SAP Acquiring Roambi

During the earliest emergence of tablets and smartphones for advanced data display, we looked at Roambi to provide mobile,  agile data visualization for executives.   It is still used by companies like Costco.  They were one of the first companies that used the term 'storytelling' in their approach.  Now most data visualization players have their own mobile solutions.  Word is that SAP is acquiring Roambi.  In Xconomy.

A Bloomberg Video:  One of the founders of Roambi talk this strategy.  I tried it on the iPhone early on and was impressed what could be done.   I like in particular their early look at how they are including a story concept.    Having been involved recently in mobile visualization, so plan to take another look at the capabilities.

Beautiful BI on the IPad

An interesting post on 'beautiful mobile BI'. Next Doug Lautzenheiser on using RoamBI and other IPad BI methods. I have also experimented with the RoamBI App .. the visuals are good, maybe not beautiful. Yet I would much prefer if it was as easy to use and interact with as possible. And of course if the visual represents the data as accurately and simply as possible.

Roambi BI on the IPhone

Always thought there was a place for good interactive Business intelligence visualization on the IPhone. For example in retail where I had to get lots of supporting data while in the aisle. Now from the developers of Xcelsius there an application called Roambi that was just pointed out to me. I had looked at Xcelsius earlier. See the Roambi site.. Nicely done, still exploring, more later, certainly worth a look.
