Linkedin Killing the Traditional Resume?

Yes, recent studies show that the use of online CVs in Linkedin are becoming a requirement. But it is still too early to expect the end of the classic resume.  I was asked this by a mentee recently: Should I even have a resume?  The answer is still yes.  It probably good to have both for most occupations, and have Linkedin based on the classic CV.  But to also use the active and interactive features of Linkedin to show further value.   Now should we insist on an open source, and standard data form of Linkedin?  Still not impressed with Linkedin's user interface, data architecture and management. Volatile and inconsistent.
