Human Resource Analytics Defined

I have recently been looking back to my experience and then forward in what is being done today in Human Resources Analytics.    I found the below useful quote in the just released text, by UC authors and others:  Essentials of Business Analytics by 
Jeffrey D. Camm, James J. Cochran, Michael J. Fry, Jeffrey W. Ohlmann, David R. Anderson, Dennis J. Sweeney, Thomas A.Williams  I have been making my way through parts of this book, a great resource both at the overview and technical detail level.

"Human Resource Analytics
A relatively new area of application for analytics is the management of an organization’s human resources. The HR function is charged with ensuring that the organization (1) has the mix of skill sets necessary to meet its needs, is hiring the highest -quality talent and providing an environment that retains the best talent, and achieves its organizational diversity goals. Sears Holding Corporation (SHC), owners of retailers Sears, Roebuck and Company and Kmart, has created an HR analytics team inside its corporate HR function. The team uses descriptive and predictive analytics to support employee hiring and to track and influence retention.  .... "
