We followed him closely in our AI years.  Also a developer of the Logo language and Lego Mindstorms.  Developed much in the area of technology driven learning.

Kids Programming Toys

In Engadget: An internet of toys?  The idea of specially designed, kid oriented technical toys has been around for some time, most notable is Lego Mindstorms.  Still inclined to think that its best for kids to use systems that are most similar to those that adults use. The transition is easier.  It is more clear that these are serious pursuits.

Training the Robotics Designers of the Future

Promoting entry level robotics for kids .   Late to order for holiday gifts,  but I like the idea.  I particularly liked Lego Mindstorms and played with far more primitive approaches years ago.  I think there is an advantage for systems that are touch-and-feel physical as opposed to purely virtual.  Can we help train the builders of the robotics systems of the future?  I think so, and sometimes it just takes a little direction setting, and training in process logic.
